Shoulder Pain

Shoulders are the most complicated joint complex in the body with movement being granted by way of 3 other joints.

Dysfunction of any one of these areas will prevent the full mobility of the arm and can cause compression to the brachial plexus creating nerve impingement.  Other structures such as the joint capsule and shoulder ligaments work to stabilise movement dislocations and separations.

Some of the more common complaints found in this region are rotator cuff injuries, bicipital tendonitis and arthritis.  A lot of the time these injuries are caused by doing overhead activities or from repetitive strain.  Compensatory movements such as “shoulder hiking” can develop from these and cause pain to develop in other areas such as the neck.
